Fighting Cross-Border Pollution

Mayor Aguirre wants to protect the funding that has been secured to expand the sewage treatment plant, and to continue advocating for more funding from the feds and the state. Mayor Aguirre won’t stop fighting until there are zero beach closures in Imperial Beach.

Ensuring Housing Affordability

Mayor Aguirre wants to expand the City’s Housing Department so that IB residents can have access to informational resources, consult with staff about available assistance programs for both landlords and renters, and help people remain housed.

Addressing Homelessness

Mayor Aguirre wants to work with tenants and landlords when disputes arise and assist Imperial Beach’s unsheltered residents find permanent housing. Mayor Aguirre will work for stronger protections for tenants, particularly around wrongful termination.

Keeping IB a Safe Community

Mayor Aguirre continues to advocate for complete streets in Imperial Beach, better street lighting, increased bike paths, access to public transit, and multi-modal transportation so that all Imperial Beach residents can enjoy walking, biking, and skating safely. 

Advocating for More Open Spaces

Mayor Aguirre is a strong advocate for more open spaces around Imperial Beach and the region. She understands the health benefits of nature areas for humans, animals, and the environment.

Family Friendly Community Events

Mayor Aguirre supports programs for seniors, adults, and youth and the creation of more family-friendly events and activities that provide free recreational and cultural opportunities and resources for people of all ages.
